- I've got a problem getting netscape v1.22 up an running on a friends
- computer. The system is a Packard Bell Force 250 which came from
- the factory with a 9600 baud modem and fax/comm software. The modem
- is set to run on Com1 irq 4 in setup. A couple of things are puzzling..
-
- First, the modem is attached Directly to the motherboard, a phenomenon
- i have not seen before.
-
- Second, the fax software recognizes the modem and is fully functional
- while netscape's modem detection routine blows past com1 and still won't
- recognize the modem even if i specify its whereabouts.
-
- Has anyone gotten navigator up and running on this machine? Should I
- just kill this slow modem and get a "real" modem? I sure could use a
- hint? I have messed around with the com settings but to no avail.
- Any help is greatly appreciated.
