  14. I've got a problem getting netscape v1.22 up an running on a friends
  15. computer.  The system is a Packard Bell Force 250 which came from
  16. the factory with a 9600 baud modem and fax/comm software.  The modem
  17. is set to run on Com1 irq 4 in setup.  A couple of things are puzzling..
  18.  
  19. First, the modem is attached Directly to the motherboard, a phenomenon
  20. i have not seen before.

  22. Second, the fax software recognizes the modem and is fully functional
  23. while netscape's modem detection routine blows past com1 and still won't
  24. recognize the modem even if i specify its whereabouts.

  26. Has anyone gotten navigator up and running on this machine?  Should I
  27. just kill this slow modem and get a "real" modem?  I sure could use a
  28. hint?  I have messed around with the com settings but to no avail.
  29. Any help is greatly appreciated.
